The Biomechanics department is a community based service covering South Tyneside and Gateshead which offers a lower limb musculoskeletal (MSK) assessment to patients with a component of lower limb pain. We also endeavour, where possible to identify if there is a biomechanical element to the cause of pain, or delayed healing/repair of the painful structure.
In addition to clinical experience in the assessment of lower limb musculoskeletal problems, we use X-ray, MRI and CT scanning as part of the diagnosis of the condition and use in-house diagnostic ultrasound imaging on site.

Clinics run from 8.45am to 4.30pm weekdays at both locations.
Any qualified Health Care Professional (such as GPs, consultants or physiotherapists) can refer to the service, whereupon the referral is triaged according to need.
We are a small team of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) who have extensive training and experience in lower limb musculoskeletal care ranging from Paediatric lower limb examination, overuse injuries and chronic and degenerative injuries.
