Childrens outpatient clinics are where children can be reviewed and assessed following an acute episode of illness or where long term health problems require ongoing monitoring.
There are some specialist clinics such as clinics for urinary tract infections and diabetes and some general clinics where a variety of conditions can be followed up.
There is also a rapid review clinic where children will be seen quickly after attendance at A&E to ensure that their condition is improving.
Where is the service provided from
All of the clinics are held at Palmer Community Hospital, Jarrow except the rapid review clinic which is held in the Childrens Emergency Care Department at South Tyneside District Hospital.

The clinics are staffed by auxiliary nurses or nursery nurses working with Doctors, Peadiatric Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioners and Specialist Nurses.
