The aim of the team is to reduce hospital alcohol admissions. It provides specialist assessment, advice and information to patients who attend hospital and works with GP’s and community agencies to ensure patients are supported to address their alcohol use. Patients are assessed in the Accident and Emergency Department and offered information and advice about how to reduce their alcohol use. The nurses in the team provide nurse led clinics to patients with liver disease
The team is a partnership of staff from South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust and Turning Point.
